Besides the staple activities and facilities there are additional leisure opportunities in Winnipeg. There are two guides to showcase what’s happening. The first is the Leisure Guide and the second is the “Priceless Fun” programming guide.

The Leisure Guide is a massive PDF that includes tons and tons of things to do and programs that are offered in different areas of Winnipeg. Some of the headings are active living which is information on different fitness activities. Adult leisure is another section which has many sub-headings like: around the home with programs for organizing the home, and information on inspecting a home for home buyers. Another subheading is “around the yard” that have a number of activities like: pruning or maple syrup for profit. For children, there is a separate active living section with headings like: dance, gymnastics, martial arts and sports. For seniors there is a section with headings like: senior citizen centres, age and opportunity sites and dance (that include zumba). There is also a section dedicated to youths, titled youth action centres. In addition to the list and descriptions of the locations there is also information on summer employment opportunities. Programs include: creative arts and education.

The second guide is the free summer programs. This guide is considerably shorter than its counterpart but contains lots of information in its 16 pages. There are things to do for all ages and includes locations, tines, dates and descriptions.

Just because you live in a city doesn’t mean you can’t partake in activities and events that where designed for tourists. Not to mention that if you have a few “out-of-towners” drop through it’s nice to have your entertainment arsenal full stocked.

Here are a few notables from the list: number one on the list is the Forks National Historic Site. Located in the centre of Winnipeg and is described as an “urban oasis”. With more than a few things to do this hotbed of activity is filled with shops and restaurants (among several other things for people to do).

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is another must-do. It’s Canada’s oldest gallery and in addition to its huge collection of Inuit art but it also contently hosts national and international work. One other benefit is it is in walking distance of all downtown hotels.

If you’re into art then you will also want to check out the exchange district. This is a 30 blocks and is host to much of the unique and one of a kind items. If you enjoy shopping for things you can’t find anywhere else then this is the place for you.

There are also the casinos. Club Regent Casino is one of the gaming establishments in Winnipeg and has a number of popular casino draws. Besides the Poker, Black Jack and Keno; the casino scene in Winnipeg has the usual extravagant of exceptional dinning, atmosphere and excitement.

Instead of the staple activities there are also many festivals and special events in Winnipeg. The city is host to many signature events and local as well as many regular tourists look forward to these annual adventures. One event is the Winnipeg comedy festival, a 5 night extravaganza of some of the funnest stand-up the city has to offer. Another event is the Folk Festival with over 70 different acts that takes place on two separate stages.
